SHOR Health

The holidays can be hard when you have a loved one struggling with addiction.

SHOR is support for you. Two short texts a day: the words for the hard moments, a minute for yourself each evening, and a circle of your choosing to confide in.

For me

Start today. Your first text comes tomorrow morning.

Start my year
As a gift

Give a year

A day with SHOR

MorningOne line for the moment you're dreading, in words you'd actually say.
EveningA minute to check in with yourself. A number, not an essay.
Any timeFour words you can text: SAY for the words, HELP for a person, OPEN to practice, READY when they say they want help.

8:30 AM

Practice, 2 minutes. The line: 'I'm not giving you money. I'll bring groceries over on Sunday.' Text back your version, with whatever you'd actually offer instead.
I love you, and I'm not giving you money. I'll bring dinner over Sunday.
That's your 4th line in your own words. That's a good line, and it sounds like you. Saying it once here makes it easier to find when it matters. Keep it somewhere you can see it.

7:30 PM

How was today for you, 1 to 4? 1 rough, 2 not great, 3 okay, 4 good. Just the number is fine.
3
Steady enough. Take the calm at face value tonight. It's real, and you helped make it. Nothing to brace for.

If this is your December

December asks a lot of you. SHOR is the part that's for you.

You'll know what to say in the moments that used to leave you frozen: the late call, the night they come home high, the fight you can't win. When they say they're ready for help, you'll know how to answer and who to call. And in the first weeks after treatment, when you're afraid of saying the wrong thing, you'll know what to say and what to leave alone.

How the gift works

  1. 1You buy a year.
  2. 2You get a code and a QR code by email the same minute.
  3. 3You give it however you like: in a card, in a text, in person.
  4. 4They sign up on their own phone, in their own time. Nothing is sent to them until they do.

$129 for a year, or $14.99 a month.

Add up to three more people, $69 a year each. Everyone gets their own SHOR.

Written by a clinician and reviewed by a clinician. Grounded in approaches research shows help families.

Questions

Is this treatment?

No. SHOR is practical support for you, not treatment, therapy or crisis care. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a crisis, call or text 988.

Will they know I'm using it?

Only if you tell them. Nothing you do in SHOR reaches anyone unless you choose to share it.

What if she doesn't want it?

Then nothing happens. A gift code never expires, and no one is contacted until they sign up themselves. It's there whenever she's ready.

Can my husband get it too?

Yes. Add anyone in your family for $69 a year each. Each person gets their own texts and their own account, and nothing is shared between you unless one of you chooses to send it.
