Find a meeting

A room, or a screen, full of people who've been where you are. You can go once. You can sit in the back and say nothing. Nobody will ask you to explain yourself.

Which room fits?

Tap what fits you. The programs that match stay bright.

All programs shown.

Al-Anon

For anyone affected by someone's drinking. The largest network, with meetings most days in most towns and online meetings around the clock.

Nar-Anon

For family and friends of someone using drugs. The same shape as Al-Anon, a smaller network, and strong online meetings.

SMART Recovery Family & Friends

If the 12 steps aren't your thing. Practical and skills-based, and the closest cousin to what SHOR teaches. Most meetings are online.

Families Anonymous

A 12-step program for families of someone with a drug, alcohol or related problem. Long-running, with many meetings by phone and online.

NAMI Family Support Group

If there's a mental illness alongside the addiction, or you're not sure which it is. Free, peer-led groups for family members, in person and online.

Your first meeting

  • You don't have to say anything. Most people only listen the first time.
  • Nobody takes attendance and nobody reports back. First names only.
  • Online counts. Camera off is fine.
  • If the first group doesn't fit, try a different one. They vary a lot.
  • You can bring the thing you can't say at home. That's what the room is for.

SHOR isn't connected to any of these programs. They're free, and they've been doing this for a long time.
